2009 TieQuest Competition
KR Golf Solutions was declared the third place winner of the 2009 TieQuest Business
Plan competition and received $16,000 of in-kind services from various sponsors
of the competition.
Hon. Harinder Takhar, Ontario Minister for Small Business and Consumer Services,
congratulated all the 200 participants in the competition during his speech at the
Awards Dinner stating: "All 200 participants are winners as they are courageous
to take the risk of entrepreneurship."
"This was a great experience and a journey that started back in November, 2008
and to place third is a real testiment of the business and our product Swingnature.
My biggest memories of the competition occurred after the Elevator Pitch and Business
Plan Pitch stages where some of the judges purchased the product after each presentation.

Renowned venture capitalist, Dave Furneaux delivered an inspirational keynote address
to motivate entrepreneurs. "Many successful ventures have been started during
recessions throughout history. The recessions change the ecosystem in to make it
more conducive for entrepreneurs to succeed", he stated.
TiEQuest is open to all current and aspiring entrepreneurs in North America. Contestants
must have an original business idea. The diversity of business ideas proposed in
TiEQuest 2009 was mind boggling. The contestants included many PhDs, MBAs, medical
doctors, engineers and chartered accountants. "The judges found numerous ventures
of very high quality. iIt was a very difficult decision to select the winner",
stated Suresh Madan, Chair of TiEQuest.
"The TiE Charter Member base provides us a bank of mentors with experience
in a wide range of industries. These Charter Members are successful entrepreneurs
and other business leaders. We are proud of the significant contribution that TiE
Toronto is making in the Canadian innovation ecosystem" ,stated Hari Venkatacharya,
President of TiE Toronto. Many Charter Members of TiE Toronto offered their services
as mentors to various teams.
